WHEN DO YOU USE A CODE CONSULTANT? Any time in the course of designing, building, or contemplating a construction project a code consultant may become a valuable resource. For other architects, I serve as part of their design team throughout all phases of their planning and design work. For some architects, they ask me to review their plans and specifications for code compliance before they submit them to their clients or before they apply for permits.
